LAURA & RICHARD'S WINTER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

23/12/09
LAURA & RICHARDCeremony: St Anne In The Grove Church, Southowram, Halifax.
Reception: The Rock, Holywell Green, Halifax.
What a beautiful day for a wedding! A couple of days before Christmas, a few inches of snow on the ground and bright sunshine - amazing! It made getting about a little bit difficult but it was worth it!
I met Richard and his mates, most of whom are Royal Marines (steady girls!) in a chaotic house where anything that didn't move was being polished to within an inch of its life. There were half naked bodies rushing around everywhere and I began to wonder if we were going to get to the church on time. I needn't have worried. There was plenty of time for a few photos before we set off and the mood became much more relaxed once everyone was ready.
The church looked beautiful in the snow, which was actually quite deep (curse this global warming!) and it was lovely and warm inside, which was a pleasant surprise. The vicar was lovely too and very easy-going, which always helps!
After the ceremony we did most of the group shots in the snowy churchyard and set off for The Rock, where we did some nice formal portrait shots of Laura & Richard. They are a very loving couple which made it really easy to get some great photos of them together in the snow.
Later on, the evening entertainment was provided by a five-piece band, Reflections and the dancefloor was quickly filled after Laura & Richard's first dance.
All in all, a very enjoyable day and it was nice to see Laura's sister, Nichola, and her husband Chris, who's wedding we photographed earlier this year at Casa Del Lago in Brighouse.
Thanks and congratulations to a wonderful couple and the usual thanks also to Gav.
