KATIE & CRAIG'S BURNTWOOD COURT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

26/09/09
KATIE & CRAIGCeremony: The Church of St Mary The Virgin, Badsworth.
Reception: Burntwood Court, Brierley, Barnsley.
OK, I know I keep going on about the weather but it really was a key feature of Katie & Craig's big day. Yet again we were blessed with blue sky and warm sunshine despite a less than optimistic forecast. You couldn't have asked for a better day at any time of year, let alone the last week in September!
Craig was expecting to meet me at the church, so he was a bit surprised when I arrived at his parent's house an hour earlier than arranged. Katie had secretly asked me to go there because she'd arranged a surprise limo to take Craig and his groomsmen to the church.
After a few glasses of bubbly and loads of photos, it was off to the beautiful village church at Badswoth.
Something tells me the vicar had been upset by a photographer sometime in the past as he made it quite clear he would have preferred us not to be there! I always think it's a real shame for the couple when the vicar adopts this attitude. They have obviously chosen to get married in the church because their faith is important to them and therefore photos of the ceremony are likely to be the most treasured ones in their album. We always ensure that we respect the solemnity of the occasion by not using flash and by not moving about too much and causing any distraction. I don't see how taking photos (if it is done with due respect) detracts from the dignity of the occasion.
After the ceremony and the confetti etc, Katie & Craig set off for Burntwood Court in an vintage open topped Rolls Royce.
The grounds of Burntwood Court made a great location for photos and we also made good use of an adjacent field full of hay bales! The reception itself was held in a huge function room with a high ceiling. The evening entertainment was supplied by local band The International Party Doctors, who reckoned it was the best venue they had played for a long time. They had everyone on their feet right from the first song and kept the party going with limbo competitions and a varied upbeat set.
Congratulations & thanks to Katie & Craig for a brilliant day and thanks also to Gav.
