HELEN & PAUL'S WOOLLEY HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

19/09/09
HELEN & PAULCeremony & Reception: Woolley Hall, Wakefield.
I knew we were in for a good day when Paul told me that he and Helen are both Health Inspectors and their first "meating" was at an abbatoir (sorry, couldn't resist)!
Helen is super-organised and she had left notes stuck to the fridge to remind Paul not to forget the rings, although I doubt if he would have done as he struck me as being perfectly calm and collected anyway.
After a few casual shots of Paul looking very relaxed at home, we made our way to the impressive Woolley Hall for the main event.
The Hall itself is the perfect venue for a romantic wedding. The building is covered by Virginia Creeper which is a brilliant flame red at this time of year, coordinating perfectly with the colour theme of the day. Apparently, Helen had been making regular visits to the Hall over the last couple of weeks to check if the leaves of the creeper were turning red enough! I suspect that if they hadn't, she'd have got someone in to paint them!
Helen's dress was trimmed with blood red and looked amazing. A really individual touch (I wonder if it was inspired by the place they first met - hmmm, perhaps not!).
The guests were greeted by a harpist as they entered the Hall. One chap asked her if she knew any Jimi Hendrix but unfortunately, she didn't.
The ceremony took place in the elegant Music Room and then everyone filtered outside to enjoy the autumn sunshine in the beautiful gardens.
As you might imagine, I go to quite a lot of weddings and hear loads of speeches. I have to say, though, Paul's speech was undoubtedly the best and most original and enjoyable I've ever heard. The whole thing was written as a poem and Paul's laconic delivery, coupled with some truly dreadful rhymes made it hilarious! It must have taken him weeks to write and it had everyone in stitches! Everyone got a mention apart from Gav & me, although I can't think of anything that rhymes with "Photographer" off the top of my head!
All in all a most enjoyable day, even for those of us who were "working". Congratulations to a very unique couple and thanks to them (& Gav, of course) for a fantastic day.
