KELLY & ANDREW'S OAKWELL HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

12/09/09
KELLY & ANDREWCeremony: Oakwell Hall, Gomersal.
Reception: Casa Del Lago, Brighouse.
Well, they couldn't have picked a better day for it! Clear blue sky all day and bright sunshine, it felt like one of the hottest days of the year, although I think the lads were starting to suffer a bit in those suits.
What is more, they couldn't have picked a better venue. Oakwell Hall is famous for its links with the Bronte sisters and was used as a location for the recent TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights. The house & gardens are are nothing short of spectacular and well worth a visit.
The intimate ceremony with 30 close friends and family was held in the historic oak panelled great hall which boasts a huge window on one side and a gallery around 2 sides. I opted to shoot from the gallery but this meant I had to tiptoe around as the 400 year old floor was very creaky - at least I hope it was the floor!
From there, we had a tour of the house and took a few shots in various rooms, then went out into the amazing Elizabethan garden for the group photos.
It was then a short drive to the reception at Casa, where we made full use of the Meditteranean atmosphere and the spectacular views over Cromwell Lake. The kids made good use of the trampoline, too!
It was most enjoyable standing on the terrace watching the water-skiers on the lake and the herons, ducks and geese flying overhead (and then remembering I was supposed to be taking photographs!).
Congratulations to the happy couple and thanks for wonderful day. Thanks also to the staff at Casa for keeping us fed and to Gav for everything else.
