LAURA & DAN'S ROTHWELL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

LAURA & DAN
Ceremony: Holy Trinity Church, Rothwell, Leeds.
Reception: Rothwell Parish Hall.

I arrived at Dan's expecting to find the usual hive of activity but was surprised that there was only him there. He seemed quite nervous and told me he'd just spent 2 hours trying to catch one of his dogs who'd escaped and run off. Oh well, best to get the disasters out of the way early on!

When the wedding car drew up outside, he thought something else had gone wrong but thankfully Laura had arranged it as a surprise for him.

After a swift pint (or three) with his two best men and his ushers in the White Swan, conveniently positioned right next door to the church, Dan began to relax a bit.

Laura arrived on time looking happy and excited (I told him there was nothing to worry about!)

Churches are generally beautiful places to get married but often quite dark and a bit of a challenge for the photographer. Holy Trinity church, on the other hand, is huge and the sunlight streaming in through the massive windows was perfect.

Outside, the blustery wind made the group photos a bit of a challenge and as for the confetti shots....... At various points in the afternoon we had heavy showers, bright sunshine, big dark clouds and a beautiful rainbow - it was more like April than August!

The reception was held in the Parish Hall next door to the church (complete with a bar called The Holy Spirits!). The fairly functional interior had been totally transformed by weeks of hard work by Dan's mother into the most amazing venue which, to be honest, looked every bit as beautiful as any castle or hotel. She did all the flowers and the food, as well as the decorations and details to a professional standard.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable day, thanks to a lovely couple and their families (and Gav, of course).
